Sailing from Rockland, Maine

The Prudence
Unlike all other day cruises on the Coast of Maine, Captain Neal Parker is inviting those people who desire to have a more personalized sailing experience. Available by the hour for PRIVATE CHARTERS ONLY, the 34-foot ketch Prudence sails from her mooring in historic Rockland Harbor. From there a course is set for Penobscot Bay, its legendary shores and beguiling lighthouses. Guests are welcome to bring aboard their own picnic.

This is a unique opportunity to sail with Captain Parker, who, as a 41-year veteran of the Maine and New England windjammer industry is well known for restoring his famous 67’ Schooner Yacht Wendameen. Captain Parker is also an accomplished author of children’s books and is a renowned professional ship modeler.

The Prudence is a replica of a distinctly Maine type of workboat used during the late 1800’s for fishing and cargo. Sturdy and sea kindly, the once numerous Quoddy Pilot boats played a major role in Maine’s historic seafaring industry.
